Golden Mesa, a casino and hotel in Guymon, Oklahoma, had recently finished renovating and needed a website that matched the new space.
Our team stayed at the hotel during discovery. The property was beautiful, filled with warm southwestern details under a wide-open Oklahoma sky. My room was up high, and Guymon is so flat that sunrise and sunset took up the whole sky. Those colors, along with their brand, became the starting point for the site’s palette. The relief in the wooden walls carried into its textures, and a photo I took inspired the golden pattern in the hero.
The biggest challenge was promotions. They used to be static graphics designed and uploaded as images, so I built a new events and promotions system in ACF, with a flatpickr calendar for picking dates. Their team fills in a post with dates, times, and info. Visitors can filter by type or pick a date range to see what’s going on while they’re planning a visit.
